Hardly a week goes by where someone doesn’t ask, “Where’s the best place to put the rope for pulling tubes, can I pull them from the tower?” Well, yes, you can, and I have to admit I have done that in my past life, but in reality, you are “not supposed to”, and here’s a very good post explaining why.In a nutshell, a wake tower isn’t designed to pull tubes. If you DO, be very careful with it, don’t do it with a big tube, and pay very close attention to lessen loads, especially shock and side loads. If the tube submerges, LET OFF immediately before it snaps. Same thing if someone falls off, LET OFF immediately to reduce shock.Officially, neither me or this group condones it, but I know people do it, so just wanted to put that out there.
The tower isn’t rated for pulling tubes, and doing so can be dangerous, and will possibly void that warranty on the tower if you break it, not to mention it’s obviously a very dangerous situation if a tower snaps off!Anyway yes, I’ve done this in the past too, so I feel silly putting this out there, but feel everyone should have this information to make this decision for themselves. Officially, it’s recommended to pull a tube from the tow point on the transom of the boat. Happy boating!
