My engine rattles and generally sounds like crap when I start it out of the water, what’s wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The engine, jet-drive, impeller, and all associated parts are designed for proper tolerances and operation in water, and do not sound good when started out of the water. Just a fact of life, and normal.
