The depth finder module fits into a bracket that is bonded to the bottom of the boat, under the engine. Marine grease is used as an interface between the module and the fiberglass bottom, to allow sonar to travel through, and measure depth. Over time this grease can dry out, or migrate, gradually rendering your depth finder useless. See this guide for tips on how to fix it!
