iNR vs Cable-actuated neutral/reverse, how to tell which you have!

You are here:

More random info to share, regarding the iST/iNR option. Reminder, iST and iNR are the same thing, basically electronically controlled shifting of the reverse bucket. (iST = Intelligent Shift and Throttle, iNR = Intelligent Neutral & Reverse; the acronym changed in 2017, but it’s the same thing.) iNR offers many advantages, including the ability to be tuned from the dash for a “true neutral.”

In 2017 iNR became standard, all boats from 2017 on have it, but in 2016 and prior, it was optional. You could order the boat with iST, or without (mechanical linkage.)After some research, I found an easy way to determine if a boat 2016 or earlier has it, all you have to do is look at the shifter. All boats with iST/iNR have the Levorsi billet shifter. All boats with mechanical linkage have the SeaStar Osprey controller.

So if looking at used boat, and you want iST, that’s a good way to tell if the boat has it.
